Ok, here's the lowdown...i just swapped a (pretty much) new d16z6 into my 91 crx. I'm currently running a crappy pg7, although very soon it will be a chipped pm6 (courtesy of TE) to handle my turbo wantings. For the time being, i just threw on my Si dizzy, although i heard from a few sources that if i cut the plugs off the stock z6 dizzy, it can be rewired to work on OBD0. Anybody ever done this, and is there any truth to this? I would really like to run the stock dizzy, in order to keep my timing adjustable over the "hacked" Si dizzy.

Ya know, I've heard of people doing it, and making it work.. But I've never actually seen one, and man I've seen lots of hack setups over the years. I'm positive the internals of the dizzy is different, so I'm unsure on how well it would work..

Danny(jb-welder) hacked the ---- out of his OBD0 distibutor to operate his Z6 head. I guess whatever works.

Ya know, I think I just might! Anything to help further our pursuits here is fine with me. I got some free time comin up, so i'm gonna try it...i figured out the wiring on it, still uses the same amount, just different colors. I'll keep everyone posted, and hopefully with some pics too. Wish me luck, cause i really don't feel like hackin another dizzy up lol.

I did it but i also have a crx with screwed wiring. I bought it with a hasport dx-zc harness installed(incorrectly) which fried my distributor. but I have it right now I just need a nother z6 dizzy.

Here's the wire colors...
OBD0 OBD1
orange peach
small white white
orange/blue peach/blue
white/blue white/blue
blue/green blue/green
blue/yellow blue/yellow
large white yellow/green

blue blue
black/yellow black yellow

be sure to solder all connections, distributor wiring is very sensitive, and good luck.

UPDATE: Well, i tried to swap the dizzy's today on my day off. It didn't work though. Not sure if the dizzy was good in the first place, but i wired it all up nice, turned the key...and nuthin happened. Just cranked over. Once in a while it would kinda catch itself, but once it did, it would just die right out and continue cranking. I checked for spark, and there was plenty of that, and the car drove to where my "garage" is, so it also had fuel. Dunno what the hell was goin on, but now i put my Si dizzy back on, and i'm throwin code 9 (cyl #1 sensor). I give up! I found a complete gsr motor, that someday soon might end up in my engine bay(only paid $400 too ).

if u wanted to be able to still adjust ur timing, you should have gone with a y8 head. the obd0 dizzy fits perfectly on the y8 head, as oppose to the z6 head. but if u do a lilo modification, the obd0 dizzy will work perfectly fine with the z6 head, and you'll still be able to adjust ur timing. i know a guys that has a z6 head with the obd0 dizzy and he was still able to adjust his timing. the easiest way is to use the y8 head.

I do believe the reason the obd1 dizzy doesn't work with the non obd setup is dut to the cyp on the non obd dizzy has 12 teeth, and on the obd1 it has 16.
