OBD1 D external coil install
5 Attachment(s)
So my car has been misfiring real bad lately and it got to the point I couldn't drive it anymore. I went to a friends house and we diagnosed it as a bad coil. My car is converted to obd1 and actually has an Accord distributor on it that was originally set up for external coil. So I had the cap and coil laying around. Here is how I installed it. Its real easy all you do is run the 2 wires that go to the stock coil to the outside and to the new one.
I removed the distributor. Attachment 27516 I then removed the stock coil. Attachment 27517 Here is the cap I used. As far as I know its from an 92-93 Accord. https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v...3/coil/cap.jpg Here is the coil I am using temporarily until I get the money to buy a better one. It is originally from my old 90 geo metro lol Attachment 27518 I cut a small notch in the cap to run the 2 wires out. Attachment 27519 Here it is on my car. Ignore the crappy wiring and engine bay this car is my beater. Attachment 27520 I still have to solder my wires I ran and put a little rtv on the cap where I made the notch. I know no one on here cares but at least my car runs good now. |

Re: OBD1 D external coil install
when you are poor and your car is broken ghetto things must be done :8 Instead of spending ~$80 for a new coil I used stuff I had laying around in my garage.
