Well since i live in California. The laws here are very strict. I want a US B16a but i was concern what type of ECU can i use and still pass smog? I know i can use any USDM B16a but what ECU can i use? Or can i still use a JDM OBD0 ECU and still pass smog with a USDM B16a?

 

when you go do your smog swap in some hf injectors and an hf ecu. you should pass with flying colors. maybe not. ehh. :P

 

is the HF ECU even compatible with the B16a? thought the B16a have some stuff civic ECU doesnt have. like for example, knock sensor? I thought all civic injectors was the same? 240cc?

 

hf have 190cc injectors. someone correct me if im wrong. they did get about 40mph+. all the obd0 ecu's for civic/crx's should be interchangeable

 

It will not be able to rev. I tried running a dohc zc on a hf ecu just to drive it. It was a no go. If you want to go legal you must convert to obd1 and find a usdm del sol p30. Just a forwarning usdm p30 are rare and very expensive for this reason. I sold mine for 300 so be ready to pay.

 

i might as well pay for a Zdyne or Hondata. But the thing is that will it be able to pass smog? I might as well convert OBD0 to OBD1

 

If you plan on taking the car to a ref you need the usdm p30 ecu. It's the first thing they will check. Good Luck better off finding a hook up.

 

but this will throw a EGR code and the ref will fail u for CEL.
