nylon control arm bushings

nylon control arm bushings
I just made a set of front inner LCA bushings out of white nylon on the lathe, i used the steele sleeve out of the center of the ES poly bushing kit and basically remanufactured the poly pieces out of nylon
what type of problems may this cause on my car using a bushing this stiff? The goal is to eliminate wheel hop and I believe that it will help out with that but has anyone else tried this?

Well its not going to stop whell hop if you still have stock motor mounts and stock traction bars. Do traction bars and motor mounts, and that will take care of 90% of your traction problems.

I don't know about nylon, its not an ideal material for your situation. Most types tend to absorb water, and have rather poor wear & lube properties vs poly. You can get certain mixes with moly in them & such, but delrin is much more idea. Much less deformation, less brittle, stronger, better lube properties, and cutoffs can be cheaper than that 'special' nylon. You can also find some very stiff poly cutoffs on ebay, and both materials new at mcmaster.com
I'm sure they'll work okay for a while, but there's a good chance the lips could smush or break off with hard launches, or crack if there's any sort of binding. Water and grease may also cause swelling, which will cause binding.

Re: nylon control arm bushings
The nylon should work fine as the stock ones were 20 year old rubber so anything will be a improvement.Next up deal with the motor as the stock rubber mounts let the motor flop like a like trout on a hot beach. You can get Prothane inserts that are super stiff for >$100 or just fill the mounts but that is a pain in the *** and messy.Really step one to any Honda build should be a poly bushing master kit as the improvement in chassis feel and responce you get for $150 is better bang for the buck then any other modification you can do.

Re: nylon control arm bushings
I did all the poly upgrades on my crx, it did make it better, But the best thing I ever did was build a new traction bar, and have a 4 way alignment done. HUGE improvement over everything else. ever done.
