Re: not sure what bearings to use after micro polish on crank
well the helms manual said the service limit for a D16z6 was 0.02 in for both main/rod. but someone else on HT said main should 0.0015-17 and rod should be 0.0017-19 and didnt have a problem. So im confuse ??? ???

Re: not sure what bearings to use after micro polish on crank
it really depends on what you want from the motor. tighter clearnaces (.0015-.0017) for lower power and longevity, and looser (for better oil flow) for higher horsepower, but people claim the bearings won't last 'as' long. i wouldn't be scared to run them as tight as .0015 or as loose as .002, but i wouldn't go tighter or looser that that for any application. with that being said, you never answered what your actual clearance were :P

Re: not sure what bearings to use after micro polish on crank
well i got everything all installed. And ready to start up. Everything seems to be within spec. ACL is the ISH! ;D But the crank is so hard to turn with everything in place. It has been torque down properly. Bolted two screws in the crank (flywheel side) and tried turning it by hand. It would not move. So i used a piece of rod and tried slightly to turn it. The crank turns but it seems like something is making the crank not spin freely. I believe its the thrust washer because when i tried turning the crank. Half the thrust washer came out. I mean I know i installed it right. Because the Groove side suppose to face outward right? Is it because it is lacking oil and theres some friction? I mean I lube everything up before the final install. Help?

Re: not sure what bearings to use after micro polish on crank
The crank should spin pretty freely with no piston/rod assemblies attached to it. If it doesn't, something's wrong. Take it back apart and recheck.

Dude....stop.... i did a rebuild last year and the crank was hard to move and i started it up and man did i ---- up. every thing must be moving freely.
