Ive completed my lsvtec swap into my eg hb with an extream amount of stupid problems. Problems from guessing from which shift linkage is the right on (i have 3 sets, all different) to coolant leak, to oil leak, to getting the key stuck in the ignition to my laptop not charging up when i need too, to you name it.

Ive finnaly gotten it started and had a nasty idle lope. I found a vac leak between the intake mani and the head. Fixed that and still had the idle lope. cleaned the iacv and the fitv and all that good stuff. Eventually found that the plug to the iacv and the purge valve were swaped. more stupid ----. That fixed the idle lope. Now im idleing smoot at about 1600 and when I blip the throttle to about 2000 and release, the idle drops down to about 400 and back up to 1800 and settles to 1600. I adjusted the idle screw with no effect. Im about to about to add the pluggin to dissable the iacv in crome. Any ideas?

Im using crome pro for tuning and have read about crome contributing to idle problems. So that might have something to do with it. Im still working on it. Have yet to get the wideband (lc-1) working properly. Crome pro is pretty buggy. Is it better to keep the lc-1 stock wideband settings and deal with only being able to read 17 afr through crome or change the settings to the lc-1 to match crome?

Also, I use the seriel to usb adapter for my lc-1 and can change to settings no problem, but when I try to connect to logworks, I am unable to get the comm port to open. I ------- hate computers.

Help a brother out.

hmm..sounds like tuning issues. Is this a base map? For the heck of it...if you're using a tb with that coolant sensor connected under it, open the back up and tighten up the big screw thing. Having that too loose can cause idle problems. Only some tb's had it. I don't remember which ones but that may cause problems. But from the sound of this, tunning is an issue to deal with.

You're talking about the FITV...Fast Idle Thermo Valve I beleive. Only time I've really seen idle drop when the throttle is hit is if either dizzy timing is waaay off, or cam timing is off a tooth or so. You used a gsr timing belt, correct?

yeah, gsr timing belt and gsr water pump. aem cam gears and blox b cams. the cam gear markings and teeth matched up perfictly with the stock gears. its hard to find the corect timing when the idle is at 1600. ive already cleaned and adjusted the fitv. ive tried 4 different maps all on p30 roms. next im going to try to put the map into the p28 rom and see if its just crome and also remove the iacv all together. this is on a brand new hone, pistons and rings so im worried about the messing up the ring seal by ------- with this idle issue too long.

Ive beeten to high idle. After cleaning the fitv and the iacv, checking for vac leaks and swaping the plugs for the purge valve and the iacv connectors, i was left with a clean idle at 1600. I was then informed of a mistake that everyone should learn from. The breather box on the block would not fit with the assembly of the motor so it was bypassed. I put a fitting from a prelude oil cooling system (I think) into the place where the breather box would go. I them preceded to run tubing strait to the intake manifold bypassing the pcv valve. There lied the problem (vac leak). After ruining the head gasket with that set up, I ran the system to catch properly and have succeded in beating the high idle.

Another problem has risen. Have any of you had problems with water collecting in the hoses of the catch can? I have the top hose running to the valve cover and the bottom hose running to the block. The third bung on the catch can is vented to the air. I am using clear hose that i got from Home Depot. It seems to me that in the morning condinsation is building up in the hoses and as the weather warms up, water is formed. Is the type of hose im using be a cause of this?

yeah, you need to realize that the pcv valve is actually a calbirated vacuum leak. So when you remove it and run a vac hose, you just created a hell of a vacuum leak. So yeah. Umm otherwise if you have other problems you could always block off the IACV as 90 percent of our members do. Then just adjust your idle using the FIV and your idle adjustment screw.
