Just a side note, when you do check the cylinder bores don't be suprised if they are slightly egged. That happens with time. For what a bore and hone cost..I'd pull it out and take it to the machine shop, then you can't go wrong.

point noted, i've checked the cylinder walls and supriseingly there's no egg to them, so i'll just be honing them no bore

Did you actually check them with a proper bore dial? or did you check the top with a caliper and call it a day?

a friend of mine checked the bore, he also suggests putting mains back in it....

hell I'm reusing my mains for the second time on the same engine, plastiguage shows them within spec.
