this new mobile1 extended life oil....

just courious if anyone has seen this ---- yet, and what your take is...

http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/Mo...rformance.aspx
i personally think its the most retarded thing anyone has come out with. I use mobile 1 in every oil change i have ever done on my civic and gotta tell you i love mobile 1. but this 15,000 mile oil...come on.

plus, what filter is designed for 15000 miles of useage?

http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/...c;f=1;t=009296
there is lots of good info on that site about it. i dont think they agree with it and what its capable of.

www.bobistheoilguy.com has alot of oil/fuel related tests and all kinds of good info. (the link above is his forum)

Re: this new mobile1 extended life oil....

the new honda filters are only rated for 7000km... not even half of 15000 miles.

i dunno if u know this but my d15b7 has a sticker on the air box which states oil changes should be done every 12000km or 8000 miles. Thats just regular 5w30 oil. So that oil can't be all lies.

brand new cars now state 5K miles between oil changes, or there is a sensor, according to the mobile one website. :-\

do you mean you didnt change your oil for 30K miles? did you just keep putting it in? i would trust anything to mobile1, and have some pictures at home i will post about why it think that. ;)

I think 90% of what it says on the container is marketing. Why would it matter if you had 10,000 or 100,000 miles on your car to use a different oil? It would seem logical that a good oil would cover you in both situations, and there isn't really anything you can put in oil to make it better for a 10,000 mile motor opposed to a 100,000 mile motor. That's just how I feel, though.

Castrol and NGK for me. ;)

no steve...the oil is good for 15000 miles, meaning not needed to be changed for 15000 miles. not "there is 15000 miles on the car, use this oil" (if i am understnading you correctly)

and i will post those pictures when i get home. ;)

I wonder how much more it cost though? so basically change the oil filter and leave the oil

Re: this new mobile1 extended life oil....

well i think most people change there oil prematurely anyways, i know of people that run mobil one up to 8k miles, i always change mine at 3k but most oil is rated to last longer than 3k, Even though its good for 15k miles i dont think i would ever run my oil past 5k.

To those that say why use synthetic over regular oil, there is a noticeable diffrence with synthetics.

Re: this new mobile1 extended life oil....

mobil 1 is one of the only 2 or 3 oil brand that is real synthetic oil..opposed to Castrol...
