New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
Well when I went to ORP I busted a Axle boot somewhere on the way home early in the trip.
I called D.S.S. and orderd a new boot kit for the driver side inner CV and I installed it myself. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/100_0070.jpg "Been through 4 boots on same driver side inner CV in 4 years" I average one per year because of the angle of the shaft. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/100_0067.jpg And here is looking through the wheel http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/100_0069.jpg Now after I got it taken apart spun the bearings and they spun with out any restriction"via flat spot or heat locked" I put it all back together and I went for a drive. Well my lil slut under load/WOT vibrates like a mo fo. Not that it's just the solid rear mount vibration, but in the steering WHEEL itself I have it bad. Even the Roll Cage humms from it. Anyone "JAREBEAR OR XENO" that has the H22 in a Hatch have axle issues yet. Going to call DDS tomorrow since it ------- LABOR DAY and order another gease and band kit along with 6 bearings. ---- this ---- better get here by friday. |
Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
what are you for the left (driver)?
If you are using 90-93 integra cv-shaft then you'll keep having problems. just read this: http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=650329 yeah I know honda-tech but they do some helpful info. but overall they still suck |
Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
Drivers side inner left boot.
No I am running their stage 3 axles and hubs. OEM's wont fit anymore. Thanks I left out the description of which one ;D |
Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
Thinking about making a modification to my driver side mount to move the motor back further toward the engine bay. I have enough adjustment for the passender mount and the read mount to do so I think.

The Stage 3.9 and 5.9 have a nifty little freeze plug that seal the inside of the joint from the shaft. They are great for falling out and creating rotational noise or vibrations, so look closely.

Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
will look. Thanks for a pointer. You were mentioned a couple of times tonight. You need to head up here again and hang out. Possible that you may change your attitude towards my former drunken self post hoeizm

Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
My question is how much do you like your borrem end?? ID SERIOUSLY think about gettingf rid of that ------ Crank pulley.... Unorthodox are KNOWN to be the culprit in flailing and failing bottom ends. Buddy was making 400WHP stock block F22 kept eating main bearings in shortblocks.... Threw that thing in the garbage, not one problem since. I KNOW hes not the only one... His is in a hatch (EG) as well...
Id think about it. Not sure about the axle deal though... I run OEM 99 prelude axles and have yet to ---- one up (8k + miles) at 50 each... Im sticking to this route |
Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
Been on there for 4 years and still using the original bearings from when i bought the motor. Went through a valve drop and now 4000 miles on this tune or weekend beating and daily driving to work sometimes. I had to pull the girdle to install the set screw for the balance shaft elimination kit and they still looked great. Also running royal purple or am soil. hmmm if i came across a original crank pulley that was not chipped. I would throw it on. Just that that pulley is the only one that i have owned. Maybe look into that too. Thanks Brian. You get a lap top yet or you just winging it?

Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
reading owns me, allready brought up..

Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
If I remember correctly I've already warned you about that piece of ---- pulley you got on your motor. I've read many places that said it wasn't worth a broke dick. I'm sure you can find another one to replace it with somewhere and get a bigger belt for it

WELL BACK TO THE ------- AXLES
They dont just sell the outer CV bearings. They just sell the outer HUB since it's a cage assembly. And they want me to send it in to them for a rebuild. If I do that I doubt I'll get it back in time for the Dyno. GRRRRR WHAT TO ------- DO. emailing DAVE BLUNDELL NOW |

Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
YEAH 2.5 Skunk2 and I have not restriction as of yet.
BUT ANY THE ---- HOW TAD from the driveshaftshop called me and had me remove the axle and do a torsional test. OUTER CV IS TIGHT as Brians mom"yea" and the inner CV is as loose as J.H. Christs ASS HOLE. Thats loose. Anyways TAD is calling me as soon as he can find a 36.4mm tripod bearing assembly and SHIP OUT ASAP. So my dyno session may still be on. Waiting on a phone call back. MAYBE JUST MAYBE this slut will be dyno worthy saturday. TAD called me and is shipping out the 36.4mm bearing tripod to me. BASTARD COST ME $90 shipped...... YEEEEEEEHAAAAAA.......going back to bed now HERE IS THE DAMAGE Now when I put a new boot on the bearings looked perfectly fine with minimal wear for 10K miles. But when I removed the boot the bearings were still in tact but I SEE METAL FIBERS http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/100_0071.jpg Yeah shitty picture but you can see the metal reflecting. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/100_0072.jpg AND HERE IS THE CLASSIC MONEY SHOT only one bearing stayed on the tripod housing. http://i286.photobucket.com/albums/l...3/100_0073.jpg |

Wait until you have an overhardened ching chong meow axle come apart like a greenstick fracture when you are driving a car that makes a max of 80 whp. But, they are OEM axles! |
Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
Thats a good analogy.

Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
Shipping confirmation. Tri pods bearings will be here thursday. Brian i got a gift for you via video on the dyno. Lol

Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
Yah the DSS guys rule like that.

Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
I have had numerous people tell me to buy remanufactured OEM axles over egay "stage 2, 250whp+ axles" You make the decision, I got 2 step and 14psi, im getting owned by my clutch, not my axles!
REPLACE THEM! It will take less time than doing what your doing, and it gives you better peace of mind! IMHO! |
Re: New axle boot installed VIBRATION NOW
I got an autozone axle and it was NOT a rebuilt OEM. It was a brand new chinese piece of ----. It started clicking after 25 miles. Its actually still in the car.
