Default My gauge cluster stopped working!

I got teh swap done on monday. Gauges worked fine. I drove it yesterday. Gaugees worked fine. I go to start it up this morning, non of the lights turn on except the battery light. Start it, and it runs fine. The tach, temp, gas, turn signals, cel, seatbelt, oil pressure, etc. DO NOT WORK NOW.

I have checked and rechecked the thermostat ground. CHecked every fuse in teh car. under the dash and hood. I dont know what else to do...Has anyone had this problem before? I dont have any time to mess with it tonight. I'm going out drinking in a lil bit. Any help is appreciated..

I took the cluster out today and checked everything(plugs and back of cluster). It all looked good. I tapped on relays, pushed wires into plugs harder. Still no results. HEre's my list...

Works:
  • hazards
  • headlights and high beams
  • high beam light on cluster
  • radio
  • heater

DOES NOT WORK
  • oil pressure light
  • CEL
  • brake light
  • door ajar light
  • hatch ajar
  • seatbelt
  • turn signals
  • clock, unless I push the button for it
  • reverse lights

I'm completely at a loss. This just happened for no reason at all. I wasnt even working on the car when it happened.

I had a similar but not so serious problem when my guage cluster lights quit working ... and it wasn't a fuse. Found the problem in that the ground wire to the cluster was no longer grounded ... so I scotch locked it and grounded it to the frame and they're back.

What you need to do is pull the cluster and use a test light or voltmeter to check each pin for power or ground or whatever it is supposed to be doing. Use the pin outs here to determine each pins function -> http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1053318

Good luck

guess I forgotg to mention this is a 91 CRX Si. Could my cluster just be fried for no reason? The night before my tach stopped working but I poped the hood and tapped the distributor and it worked again, but all the gauges and ---- never stopped. The next morning I went to start it and NOTHING worked except the battery light and the other ---- in my list...

Most likely a fuse. Same thing happened on my friend's GSR.

i had the same prob, it was a fuse under the dash, sometimes they can be picky and blow on the edges and you cannot hardley see jack ---- letalone where its blown, just inspect them very very close, i catch myself all the time over looking bad fuses because its something simple and im in a rush to fix my ----, if its not a fuse then its hard to say what else, isnt much else to go wrong.

Like I said, you need a test light. You can test every fuse with it. Just clip it to a ground and test the 2 terminals on the fuse ... both off is fine, both on is fine, one on and one off means its blown.

Once you've checked all the fuses move onto the pin outs as I described in my other post.

Son of a bitch. I took my cluster out again, and tested every wire for power at teh clips, started getting frustrated, found a writeup on how to change the cluster fomr crx to 99 Si cluster that had plug diagrams in it. One of the wires said something about gauge cluster signal interrurpt or something. IT was fuse #1. IT was blown.....weird thing is, I checked every fuse with a power checker and they all lit on both sides...

Oh well, shes working now! That's al that matters!
