My engine is gay, part 2
Car runs fine in limp mode (by fine I mean limp mode fine, 2k idle 4k limit and a 15 minute plug fouling)
Car barely starts SOMETIMES and when it does it makes the entire car shake.
Anybody heard of this
??
I even tried my buddy's good known working ecu... same ----

good idea but the obd2a jdm ecu that came with the engine was tested on my buddy's car that gave me his p30 to test (hes got a 98 civic with an adaptor harness to run obd1) and his b16 starts up first try.
in limp mode is the map sensor monitored?

mmm, I don't think any of the sensors are really monitored. When I used pop into limp mode from overboosting my old z6/afc hack it would still run, but had very unresponsive throttle and ran extremely rich. Once you came to a stop the car would die until I reset the ecu. There's got to be a good reason you're starting off in limp mode to begin with.
The only thing I can really think of that would make it run like that is if the timing belt is off a tooth. My friend's 92 gsr acted the same way, ended up being 1 tooth off on the crank. At first it looked like it was on the mark, but when I pulled the pulley off and looked at the mark on the block it was indeed off a tooth. I know you said you checked it, but I'd check it again. I usually rotate the motor 2 times after setting a belt, just to make sure it comes back to where it's supposed to be.
