My car will not warm up. WTF?
I just noticed that my car will take like 20 mins of sitting to get warm, I start driving and turn on the heater, and pretty soon my air goes from warm to not warm, and my temp says absolutely cold again. Then I turn off the heater and drive. It slowly warms back up (without ever getting up to normal opperating temps) and then when I turn the heater back on it goes back to cold.
You think this could be a thermostat issue or maybe it's just stupid cold here (in Mn) and that's why I'm having problems?

ya hotrex i think your right my z6 was doing that, ---- even when i would go down hills in the summer my temp would go all the way cold i was like wtf, it was just stuck open.
I thought that might be it, but I just bought this car and the douchebag who had it before me had a mechanic change the thermostat and radiator in 5/04. The mechanic was kind enough to write that in my engine bay with a marker, so the thermostat should be new.
He may have put in a lower temp T stat. They usually come in 192(stock) 180, and 160. Put a new stock type in and you will be set. The Stant T stats come with a new gasket on them. 15 minute job.

I had to search through a pile of rubber gaskets until i found the right one, and then I wasn't even sure it was the right one.
