Default Mini-me question

OK, so i'm begining to think about doing a minime on my
93 dx hatch d15b7 engine.
I would get a head out of a d16z6

now my questions are,
how much of a power and torque increase does this give you?
is it only once vtec activates?
how does it compare to getting a whole d16z6?

and this is important(as i'm planning turbo later),
will it up the compression in my motor?

thanks.

Low 10.1 c/r (ok to turbo) but need some pretty decent Fuel/spark management

Power would probably bump up 20-25hp with just the head swap.

oh, hrmm,
dang, I was hoping the stock c/r would be retained,
cuz both engines have the same c/r

reason is that i'm kind of skimping on the fuel management,
well not totaly, but i'm not doing any hondata, or zdyne.
just smc with some upgraded injectors

hey I'm pimping a D15B7 myself, and I have considered either turbo or mini-me on various occasions. Bottom line, I am waiting until I get out of college and have a backup car. But as far as your mini-me goes, it will raise your CR and it will make a turbo project more "interesting." There are guys here that have done mini-me turbo's, but their fuel management had to be that much better since they were messing with a more unstable setup. Personally, If I'm going to turbo a 10:1 engine, I'd do it with one that came with that compression stock (B18C1, B16A) -- less unusual variables to deal with.

If you want to stick with your civic but don't want one of those big boy engines, shoot for a full D16Z6 and turbo that. You get the VTEC, and the lower compression as a safety net. If you're anything like me and haven't yet homemade turbo'd a car, you may want to start with such a lower compression.

thanks sqwirly,
thats good advice, and I think i'll take it.

might go d15b7vtec(jdm 130hp engine) it has a 9 c/r stock I believe, and I know someone running 13's on that with a greddy kit at 8psi and FMU...

although he is on him second motor... hmmmm, hehe.
