Default mini me problem

SSL2K and I are having some problems with a minime we made yesterday. I'm using a C8 shortblock with a Z6 head and using the Z6 timing belt. Now the EG hatch that it went into just had a bad oilpump and main seal so I found a whole CX swap(longblock, tranny, axles, ecu, mounts etc...) for $20 so I ain't complaining. Now were both guessing that the timing is off since it's only firing on 1 cylinder and the car ran fine before and the harness wasn't altered in anyway and was a direct swap. It cranks but doesn't turn over and start like it's just on the urge to. Then we tried a couple more times trying different plug wires and ended up fouling the plugs. I'm not getting any CEL's and I'm guessing it's just one tooth off or so so nothing is binding or making contact. Help. Another friend of mine told to to use a Y7 cam gear if I'm not gonna use a adj. gear right away with the Z6 head and not to use the Z6 cam gear. Anyone heard this?

I'm pretty sure the cam gears are the same.

Have you checked the cam timing? Does it change/move?

If you're not getting spark to the plugs you have more problems than the cam timing.
