Mini-me knock sensor Q's (long)
Ok, been working on a Y7/8 mini-me set-up for a guy and after some looong delays trying to get the proper VTEC solenoid assembly, I put it back together and got it running today. Now, the car is an automatic and along with the Y8 head, I installed a Skunk 2 intake manifold and throttle body. When doing this, the IACV would no longer bolt up to the manifold and from what I discovered, there is not one that will work with that manifold and the P2P AUTO ECU, so I just blocked off the ports on the IM and plugged in the IACV so I would not get a code for that. So, with that being said, onto the main issue. I backed the car out of the garage and it seemed to hesitate a little when in reverse and also when I put it into drive. I continued down the road and the car smoothed out a little and when I got higher into the revs, the CEL came on and the car really never seemed to have all that much power. I got back to the garage and checked the code and it was a knock sensor code. Now, I did a search and found a couple of links to a way that was suppossed to show how to get around a code or how to add one, but the links were dead. Anybody know if there is a way to eliminate the code short of adding a shock sensor, also, any ideas of what might be causing the hesitation issue considering everything that I have stated above. Sorry about the long post, but I need to get this worked out. TIA.
i just finished fuking around with mine, i've done the exact same thing as ur buddy, and ran into the exact same problems, i tryed to see what else i could do about the knock sensor but there was nothing you can do unless u go obd1 or just buy a knock sensor and slap it on the block.....
after i finnaly solved all my problems, i get a CEL 70 my auto tranny if finished

Ok, so assuming he decides to do the OBDI conversion, did the P28 have provision for knock sensor (i.e, I would have to chip it and disable the knock sensor on the rom)? Also, what IACV can I use? Can I use any 2 wire IACV that bolts up to his Skunk2 manifold. I have been doing searches, but everything seems to pertain to manual trans vehicles. I think him switching to OBDI is the ideal situation if it can fix the knock sensor problem and the IACV problems. For right now, I am putting in the stock P2E ecu and and unplugging the vtec crap so he can drive the car.
Cool, that is the answer I was hoping to hear. Now, to find a auto P28 ecu
So, when it comes time to do the three wire -to- two wire conversion on the IACV, I am assuming you still do the wiring changes on the original ecu plug and when the conversion harness is plugged in, it will line the wires up to the proper pins on the OBDI ecu. Is this correct?
