mainbears/rodbearings... ??
Hey im just curious but who has rebuilt a engine with the cheap oem bearings vs. like Acl bearings. Im building a y8 now and im cant decide to go with the tunertoys acl bearin set.. or just the local autoparts store mains/ and rod bearings. Input anyone?? **update** that main timing belt drive gear still ------- on that crank.. think im just going to use a cut off wheel and throw another gear .. too much hassle.. and if i ---- up i have another y8 crank.. i just need the oil pump and cap off lol

go oem.
as of the timing belt gear, i was taking one out yesterday on a z6 block with the same problem it just STUCK on there like someone has pressed it on, what i did is loosen up all the bolt on the oil pump then pry/tap it outward, takes a while but eventually it came off, make sure you don`t scratch the crank and the journal

as long as your clearances are within spec youll be fine with any bearing. I've seen a rebuilt honda on clevite bearings make 400whp and still lasting and ive also seen a engine rebuilt with acls last the start up and throw a rod. Its all mixed reviews most of them are because people dont know what they are doing. For and example say the first time someone rebuilt a engine and didnt know to check bearing clearances and just threw acls in there and blew it up right at start up will tell everyone that acls are junk, thats just because it was a install error. I have personaly rebuilt about 30-40 honda engines d's and b's and depending on what the customer wanted to pay for or bought i used acls kings OEM and clevite's all ran fine becuase i utilized proper clearances. So its up to you on that whatever is in your price range just make sure to check clearances
BTW
OEM 400* bi-metal
king 1400* tri-metal
acl 1400* tri-metal
clevite 1400* tri-metal
Sorry for the long post and ignorance its just im a real stickler when people ------ mis-information one last time
CHECK YOUR BEARING CLEARANCES BEFORE YOU PUT IT ALL TOGETHER!!!!!
