the machine shop can deck your block with pistons installed.. should be around $50.

To get it honed it will require the removal of the pistons/rods/crank since the tool has to sink into the cylinder. I would think that this process should be around $50 as well. Might be cheaper to just purchase your own hone off egay or something and use it.

Your machine shop may rape you, I for one have a kick *** machine shop that I get the hookup at.

Maybe 50 dollars for a cheap *** bore job, but all bore jobs nowadays cost alot of money since most "GOOD" machine shops use Torque plates when boring. This simulates the head is there. They also torque down the girdle/main caps at the same time. A normal 4cyl bore and diamond stone hone job is easy 200 bucks. On all engines that I plan on keeping for along time and my major builds I get it done.

As far as Decking the block, Why would you want to do that? Unless you just got sleeves and you have to, or you overheated the block and it got warped. Generally you never need to deck a honda block.

But to get all that work done, yes you need to completely dissasemble the engine. Most machine shops are very very picky and want abousltly everything off the block. (waterpump/oil pump etc etc) Because they will hot tank it before/after and this will eat all the seals away on the block. So it needs to be bare.

He said hone.. not bore! Yeah no ---- that bores cost that much. Damn, always being hassled by the man. My machine shop isn't no ghetto rig, they do most of their work for industrial machines (semi trucks).

For hot tanking aluminum it's going to come out looking like it has soap stains on it, unlike cast iron parts that come out shiny. You will need to fine wire brush it to make it look aluminum bling like. They use a different acid bath and heat levels for aluminum so the results are slightly different.

Ah, I read it wrong.. I thought it said bore/hone.

If I was going to use the vitara pistons I'd just get a cheap *** hone and do it yourself. Dont deck the block either.

You better be using some good aftermarket rods and ----, because pinning your block is alot of extra work if you really dont need to do it.

Call up Endyn, and order them, something like 30 bucks? tell him you read this off homemadeturbo.com
