Default machine shop bill

I got prices at the local machine shop for work on my engine and I just need opinions on if the price is high or what?

Block work: decked, bore 20 over and hone, clean
Head work: valve job, milled if head is warped any, and cleaned
balance tuner toys rods, wiseco pistons, flywheel, and crank and of course hot tank everything
total: 480..it that expensive??

Basic price for that stuff broken down

Deck/Bore/Hone 150 (with deckplate) 80-100 without
Valve Grind 16v 3way Clean and Machine 200-250
Balance bottom end 145 (4 cylinder)

So around 550ish would be normal at a good machine shop.

I'm getting basically the same things done to my ZC minus the balancing and just for labor I'm slightly over $200. If he has to buy any parts for the head it's going to cost me a little more.

$480 sounds about right.

do you take the whole completed block to them to balance or just the individual pieces?

you can balance the rods and pistons yourself

i wouldnt rebalance a honda crank, did once and it was all out of wack, spun all the mains
