LSD - prolly been covered...MistaBone chime in bro

so just reading around and seeing that lsd is becomming popular and looks to be a decent mod to any car

well what setups are people running? is OBX decent? i see them on ebay with this

*Automatic in operation
*Eliminates harsh torque steer and understeering characteristics of other types of LSD
*Gear operated (No plates to wear or break)
*Minimal maintenance requirements
*Lifetime warranty from manufacturer defects

so what is this minimal maintenance required meaning? is this something a guy in his garage can install??

any write ups ive missed??

thanks guys!

minimal mantiance means you dont need to take it apart every 10k and replace clutches or tighten ----, etc...means you just throw that bitch in there, and change the oil regularly...

1. the hex bolts didn't seem to be evenly torqued out of the box. loosen them and retorque. i forgot what the spec was.
2. the factory bolts that hold the ring gear, hit the side of the lsd.
you have to change the bolts or grind very very little off the stock bolts or lsd so they go in straight.

do those units actually come with a spec sheet or do you have to find it yourself?

I think we torqued them down to 27 or some shiz.

Heres what we did so the bolts fit.

I don;t even do that, Impact them on, then use vise grips to get the socket off.

even with grinding the bolt shoudlers down, the socket still gets stuck.

No it doesn't. We didn't have grind the bolts at all.

To have it done right, but it didn't take much time at all.

Or you can do what M Bone and HT does and just bend the ---- out of all the bolts and stress the casing.

Quaifes are easy, but who else gets to mess with them :)

I've had 5 got thru my hands........nothing like a $2500 tranny!

BTW I just found out I have a SCCA national event win last year.
