For a really fun ride, weld some plates on the side of the mounts.

and it'll make you more prone to missing shifts and grinding gears...downside to solid bar shift linkage

poly mounts work nice but they make the car vibrate like crazy, most noticeable at idle.

Word.

I have energy suspension torque mount inserts and my car shakes like a massage chair at idle :6

The inserts made a big difference in shifting though. Definately worth it. It's not like a rattle box EF is comfortable anyways.

See I had those inserts in my old 95 coupe and they didn't vibrate at all, personally with them I thought the motor mounts still moved too much. I was more referring to a solid poly mount, not just an insert. The inserts weren't stiff enough in my car.

Re: lower tourqe mounts (EG/B18c1)

i filled the mounts in my old car with poly and it vibrated alot for the first week or so but then it seemed like everything got used to it and it felt fine, except if you had change in the pocket on the dash it would vibrate. but this isn't my daily driver so i could really care less about shaking.

Really? Which mounts did they insert into?

The EF mounts are set up a little differently, which is why I get so much vibration. The ES kit comes with inserts for the front and rear mounts only.

Anyways, my motor is solid. It doesn't rock at all.

on EG's they went into the rear mount, and the two lower front torque mounts. BBKA had the right idea with the jimfab rear and front lower poly mounts.

Get casting urathane from McmasterCarr, Works tits, and you can select the durometer/stiffness to suit what you want. Just search casting urethane, BTW 80d is REALLY Stiff, Stock is like 36d.

I got fucked out of 300 bucks on a set of shitting mounts (1st gen to b motor)

Are you going to do them all. Is it Daily Driven, because have you felt 80d? 94 going rape everthing in your car!!! the 80 going into basically my fully caged race car. I did every single mount too.

don't try to make sense of him, he took an Accord to a drag strip, that says enough.

Oscar 11-01-2006 10:56 AM

Re: lower tourqe mounts (EG/B18c1)

lol, ---- you bitches. my accord is faster than most turbo d's on here.

anyways, I've felt 94a on another accord, its not that stiff.

im only gona do the rear and front.

bumblezc 11-01-2006 11:23 AM

Re: lower tourqe mounts (EG/B18c1)

15.21 is fast? since when.
j/k

Well if your only doing the front and rear, you might not rattle to much. And an Accord is a little more solid then any hatch I've done this too. But if you did them all, look out. took me 3x longer just to get the motor in as there was no flex to wiggle the bolts through.

just do the 80d in the rear and front lowers, you can do the upper two, but you probably won't need to, and after you do those 3 if you still don't think its enough they're easy to get to.

bumblezc 11-01-2006 03:22 PM

Re: lower tourqe mounts (EG/B18c1)

80a is still really stiff!

Window weld is only about 65a. And some people say it rattles their cars. The real nice part about using Casting urethane is that it is a liquid then hardens, so you can pour it and Know it gets all the cracks and ----. Using the window glue in a tube is alright, but I've done it and it alway breaks out because of how hard it starts out.

Re: lower tourqe mounts (EG/B18c1)

well, ive been driving around with my front mount back in for a while now. its not that bad. It shakes the car when its about to die(i have iacv issues right now, so my idle is being gay). but besides that, i cant really feel the stiffness at idle.

Doing the front mount alone makes a difference. I can feel it, just like i feel vtec.

It also turns the drivetrain into a frame brace. ---- a strut tower bar, ---- a lower tie bar.

Here's my custom auto to 5spd swap mount. not completely solid and slightly charred but it's been two months and it hasn't got any worse.

if the rubber thats left breaks I have a whole roll of wire in the mig135 :6 I can deal with it if it comes up
