Default Just Great....Spun another D16a6 bearings

Damn, is it just me or Honda engine is very easy to spin a bearing. I just spun my bearings in my D16z6 in my 95 Civic EX last month and now I just spun the D16a6 bearings in my CRX. Just when I notice there was oil residue in my oil pan (leaking oil from bad oil pan gasket) its already too late. I spun the bearings. Damn It! its really a hassle to change the bearings because you have to take the engine in half to get to it. Plus i have to remove the tranny to get to the crankshaft. I guess it was time for a rebuild anyways because engine was leaking oil from the head gasket. I guess its ACL bearings time. No complaints here with ACL bearings. Actually i love them. Works great.

Oh yeah also wanted to ask how come the engine just cranks but wont turn over. I know its something to do with the bearings. Help?

no need to remove tranny, just drop the header, oil pan, main girdle.

BTW, what crank pulley you running??

Also, if you spin the mains from lack of oil, the rods and cam are toast.

its stock crank pulley! The crank is probably all fucked up by now. So it probably needs to be machined. How can i fix the cam? How does spinning the main affect the Cam? And when you said the rod is also toast you meant the bearings or the actual rod?

no need to drop the tranny? Why? I thought i have to drop it so i can get to the crank? so i can remove it?

the bearings were not at fault. Any time metal touches metal they are dead. Most people just check the oil occasionally.

the cam is the LAST thing oiled, if the crank went dry, so did the cam.........

If your gonna pull the crank, remove the whole motor, only way.

yup pulled it. The cam was ok.

Is there any way to prevent spun bearings in the future? Is there anything i can do? I mean ----, the oil check light did not turn on at all. So im guessing there was still a bit of an oil left. But what cause the bearings to be spun when there is oil? I thought the bearings only can be spun if there is no oil?

high mileage can cause spun bearings because the clearances increase and the oil cant lubricate as well also. on motors over 100k, i nearly always change to atleast 10w30 instead of 5w30.

you seem to have especially bad luck, the only motors ive heard of consistantly spinning bearings is the d16y8
