junk ass ls internals

ok so i was talking to a guy who owns a shop and telling him about me and my ls/turbo project. i said i was only going for 7-8 psi on stock internals on a newer ls motor 50k. he said not to do it on junk ass ls internals that it would blow or a rod will snap. that got me a little worried that a shop owner would tell me this but ive also read plenty of times that ls/turbo's with 8 pounds or pretty reliable. does anyone have any experience on this?

I'm no LS expert, but it can't be any weaker than the D series internals. Some people are just ----- when it comes to boost. I have heard people say a B7 will blow within the first boosted rev. ::)

ummmm........ that dude is a jack ass!! the ls has some of the strongest stock rods out of any honda engine. there are people that boost 13 psi on stock ls. it is one of the best engines to boost because of the low compression. don't listen to him! you could boost 10psi for it as a daily driver

of course a SHOP OWNER would tell you that. He wants you to come to him and buy the ----. Tell him to pound salt.

better yet, tell him to pound his own ass with a brick :-X

Just make sure you have some good fuel management, tune your car really well, and you will be fine. If I had an LS I would have no problem running 10 psi daily.

on such low boost what fmu would u recommend? vortec running what type of fuel disc? new fuel pump and 440 injectors those might be to big. and i have some cam gears i got for free so could i use those or would there be an issue about advancing the timing?

Re:junk ass ls internals

vortech or cartech, as far as i know, they're all the same. with an fmu, you don't use bigger injectors, just use your stock ones. you really wouldn't even need a different pump. i would say go with a 12:1.

Re:junk ass ls internals

if you're running a fmu @ 12:1, don't go above 8 psi, or the pressure will kill the injectors and then you're engine... The SAFC hack with 440s or 450s may suit you better.

Re:junk ass ls internals

i would either run a AFC with 450's or 440's at 13 psi or so and with a ECU hack chip whatever you want to call it with 450's running 15 maybe and with a standalone i would go balls out running 15 daily and 20 at the track ;)

on a T3 .48/.60 i would do 12psi daily
on a T3/T04e .48 i would do 10-11psi daily(maybe more)

FMU=8psi on a LS aka "i spent close to $3000 turboing my car but im a ----- and im going to lose 40whp because i dont know what the ---- im doing"

Get an ECU hack and do some dyno tuning...partial and full throttle...just dont boost a high number with a manifold or WG that is prone to boost spikes...if you are pushing the limit and you often spike you could cause some pretty serious engine damage...

I've got an LS and i blew my rods first time i boosted(on the dyno)i don't blame everything on the internals, but i'll tell u this, don't rev over 7500 and keep plenty of fuel flowing(pretty obvious).i think the only reason i blew my pist. was because my car did not have a rev limiter and the guy pushed it too far(8500 that's when it blew).besides that i think the guy at the shop is bullshiting u,like i said keep rev low and pump enough fuel and u won't have any problems if u run less than 10lbs.good luck

8500 on a LS!!!! MY GOD i wonder why those rods let go. ???

I am upgrading to ls rods. they are fabled to handle up to and around 340 hp.

Let me guess.... No VTEC oil pump? you cant rev a stock ls over 7000 if you dont have a vtec oil pump in that bitch. jeff bounced his ls/vtec off the rev limiter all day long (8500 rpms) and he just had a gsr oil pump...

lets see,my friend has run low 13's on his 3rd gen teg. stock internals. 8 pounds. not blown yet. boosted all summer, plus spring.

my other friend, had a d16z6 boosted 20PSI For 3months till it threw 2 rods (wanted to blow the stock motor, had a built z6 waiting).

you will be fine with 8psi on LS internals. the key is TUNING. i personally, would do DSM injectors, AFC, FPR, FP gauge, and wide band tuning (street and dyno).

www.slowmotionmotorsports. all home made turbo kits, including a civic running low 12's, fastest neon in ohio (low 12) del sol running high 12's, and more.

all (but the low civic 12sec) run AFC/DSM injectors, wideband tune. no one has blown a motor.

the 12sec civic has hondata.
