Installing Coil overs...
Allright guys, im just looking for a little info from someone whos done this before. I drive a 00 Civic Dx that handles like complete ---- and almost scares me to drive over 80. Im planning on getting a set of Ground Control coil overs $244, Tokiko blue shocks $244 (set) and Skunk2 upper control arms $190(dont want any other camber kits).
I checked my local shop and they wanna charge me $1000 for parts and install, so Im doing this one myself.....Im not a complete n00b and have done some swaps in the past. Is there anything i need to watch out for or any tips when installing these to make it easier, tools, etc I plan on replacing all bushings I touch so im just gonna take a pickle fork and a hammer to the old parts....but reassembling...is this just gonna bolt right in? |
Re:Installing Coil overs...
watch out for the bolts on the rear lower control arms that hold the strut in....they always seem to break :-\

Re:Installing Coil overs...
Yeah on those bolts, I believe im replacing them with longer ones to help out with the camber......I dont want my wheels leaning...

wrong bolts...these are at the bottom, those are where the suspension mounts to the car at the top |
Re:Installing Coil overs...
Will I need spring compressors? (Im pretty sure i will)

Re:Installing Coil overs...
youll probably need a spring compressor... BUT
check into a set of KYB agx shocks! They are adjustable and i got a set for $300 shipped. much better than non-adjustable blues. You'll love the ground controls. |

Re:Installing Coil overs...
So whats the real benefit of adjustable shocks.....
I mean im not autocrossing on the weekends and probably wouldnt be toying with it much, but once I get my sway bars in it would be nice to dial that ---- it.... Is it worth it? I mean that sounds like a damn good price. |
Re:Installing Coil overs...
make sure you get it aligned; make the front control arms centered to make it a little easier on the guy that does it
