on a stock obd1 ecu when unplugging the purge solenoid you only get a code when its below freezing outside

I dunno what happens with a chipped one. I got mine when the weather warmed up.

car isn't boosted anymore :P

i had to take it off for emissions but i'm planing on throwin it back on and just wanted to get some ideas on how to fix my shitty idle

deff. swap the iacv.. but in the mean time if ur lazy like me .. get some water pump gasket material pull of the iacv cut the gasket liek the same size match the 4 screw holes and put it back together so that its blocked off.. ur idle wont be hoping up and down anymore ... should stay normal for the most part.. mine does. get a y8 mani

There aren't 4 "screw holes" fastening the IACV. Blocking it off is common sense, not lazy, and then you have to fiddle the throttlestop to make it idle normally.

remember to fiddle with the throttle stop and not the throttle cable

i'd rather just use the iacv if at all possible so i don't have to ---- with the idle every 2 seconds

so on that note can we agree that unplugging the evap purge plug near the fuel rail will fix the problem?
