Default IACV help on Y7/8 mini-me

Ok, here's the scenario. 2000 Civic DX 4 dr auto getting a 99 Y8 head. The owner bought a head without an intake and opted to go with a Skunk2 intake manifold and throttle body. The problem as some of you may know is, the y7 IACV is different. Besides the fact that it will not bolt up, it is a three wire unit (remember it is auto). I have a 2 wire IACV from an old DPFI manifold that will bolt to the new skunk unit, but my question is, can I convert to two-wire even though the car will stay an auto? I am going to be using the P2P-A92 ecu in the car. I know I read something about eliminating one wire and moving two pins around, but I was pretty sure this was also while doing a manual swap. Any help would be sweet.

Can't use the Y7 TB, he bought a Skunk 2 TB. He might be buying a brand new IACV, I also realized a little latter, that he has a VTEC solenoid from a Z6 and not a Y8. Things never go easy when non-mechanical people gather parts.

Umm, why wouldn't buying an IACV for a Y8 engine work? I mean, it's a P2P ecu from an auto ex, I don't see why the appropriate IACV would not work. The problem is, it's expensive from honda. It's not my money, so whatever he wants to do to get it done.

an ex auto uses the same tb iacv as any d series auto 96-00
the holes are blocked

in other words the p2p auto uses 3 wires

You need a P2P from a stick car and then use the 2 wire IAC you have. Just do the 2 to 3 wire conversion here: http://www.turbod16.com/viewtopic.php?t=3572

So it is ok to run a manual ECU in an auto car? I knew about the 3->2 wire conversion, so if he can run a manual ecu in an auto car, I think he will be set. I have a couple of 2-wire IACV's and my other buddy switched his 99EX to OBDI and is not using his manual ECU.

What do you mean the holes are blocked? Not sure I understand that. I understand that all P2P auto's use the three wire IACV. So my original thought process was, get an IACV from an auto car with a Y8, like a 99-00 EX and it would bolt up to the Skunk2 manifold and still maintain the 3 wire plug-in.

Sorry guys, maybe I am just making this harder than it is or I am trying to simplify it too much, not sure which But your help is greatly appreciated.

He means Y7 mani and Y8 mani are the exact same piece, only the IACV ports and bolt holes were never machined out or tapped. You can do this yourself with a drill, a tap, and some finesse. There are only two styles of 2 wire IACV made for Honduhs - at least for the popular B/D/F/H stuffs. Big metal cylinder body with a plastic cap on one end, and the other is a big plastic cylindrical body. They have different flanges, so you have to get the right one for the OBD2 cars - the plastic unit.

I know with OBD1 conversions you can jew around two of the three 3 wire IACV wires to get rid of the CEL, and then totally block off the stupid IACV and let TB stop and air bleed screw handle idle. I'm pretty damn sure you can do this with OBD2 ECUs, as well. You might have to readjust air bleed and throttle stop to get idle speed where you want it, but it costs $$$ and hours less to do it my way.

Hmmm, the car in question is a 2000 DX with a d16y7 and my buddy has a 99 EX with a d16y8 and the intake manifolds are COMPLETELY different. The y7 manifold has the TB that points up towards the hood and the y8 has the TB that points towards the passenger fender. The IACV on the y7 looks like nothing you described above. It's actually mounted to the y7 throttle body.
