I think i cracked my Block!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was putting ARP headstuds in my A6 block i guess i didn't get all the coolant/oil out of the hole and when i was torqueing down the studs(only to 15 to 20 pounds) i seen coolent seep out a hair line crack straight down, right at the bottom of the bolt hole on the outside of the block.Know do you guys think its ok.Has anyone else had this happen.I don't think it cracked through the block but i don't know. And another thing do all the studs suppose to be the same height because one of them if your looking at the motor in the car the top left one on the dizzy side is higher than the rest. The one i seen seeping is the second to last one on the bottom towards the timing belt>It was right at the bottom of where i guess the stud would bottom out,but on the outside of the block.Sorry if your confussed by now, lol.TIA ,BTW its A6/Z6 mini me

go smoke some more rocks
i was thinking that maybe when he torques it down the gasket will prevent from coolant from getting to the stud/crack
but then again his threads might rip out
wondering if its possible if he absolutely has to

Get a new block. It's not going to be worth it to put the thing together and put it in the car to just take it out and replace the shortblock. If it's just a hairline crack however you might be fine using an epoxy or.... JB Weld... to seal the outside. That is unless the stud hole cracked the water jacket in which case you'll need to epoxy the inside too.
