I think I blew my head gasket !

Re:I think I blew my head gasket !
Another tell-tale sign of a blown headgasket is white smoke "steam" coming out the exhaust when you rev the engine.
Advice (from experience): If your head gasket is blown, be sure to have your head milled (surfaced flat to virgin aluminum) at a cylinder-head machine shop. Otherwise, your new headgasket is likely to NOT seal properly.

Re:I think I blew my head gasket !
the coolant is still natural , just cant keep it down, the first sign was coolant seeping down the tranny side of the engine, then later I blew a hole in the little that connect to the throttle body, on second thought could also be the thermostat, cause I had head work done and brand new head gasket, but I also have a blockguard in cause me to run hotter. So I'm giong to change the thermostat, first and then go from there. I called race engineering in miami, they have great prices on race piston set for lower comp. they also have thicker head gasket for cheap, so I can buy a set of turbo piston+rings+pins for $335, or package with rods $735, so I will try to make my motor last till I can buy those, I need to fix the whooptie for daily driving.

how was the block guard installed? was it welded in and then remachined?
pull that blockguard out of there it is blocking coolant like mad. thats prob the only problem. search on here about blockguards you will see.

Re:I think I blew my head gasket !
is your block guard flush w/ the deck surface or 1" lower?
i see alot of people keep them 1" below deck surface to allow coolant to reach the top of the cyl (where the HG is).
Also if you see some sleeves w/ the bumps out to the side in the water jacket they are a little lower then the deck aswell..
