I don't know if it is still practiced much, but you used to buy spray cans of ether, and spray a little bit of it into the intake while you are cranking. If it starts up for a bit and then dies, it is a sign that you are not getting fuel.

Sounds like you have already determined this though. So, Fuel pump, Fuel filter, water in fuel, relays etc are needed to be checked out. If you pick up one of those haynes or chiltons next time you are at the auto parts store, it will guide you through everything step by step.

ok bobby, lets settle down and stop posting multiple threads on the same subject please.

Ok, we have spark..
The car turns over fast enough..
Now we have to check for 2 other things..

Are we getting fuel? can you smell fuel? have you looked at the plugs? are they fouled out?
Can you hear the fuel pump turn on, when you turn the key on? just cycle the key to the on position a few times and have somebody listen in the back, its a very faint sound, but you should hear it kick on.
How well is the thermostat ground? that is the ground for your fuel pump, take a quick look at it.

Compression? do you have good compression? I know this is odd, but I have seen cars just completely drop multiple cylinders and will not start at all.
