I forgot which way the rod goes.

I just got my vitara pistons from the post office, The Little arrow should be pointing towards the timing belt I assume, and since they are being mated to LS Rods, which way does the rod sit? Should the PR4 stamping face the Timing belt or the other way around, The reason I ask is I have a decorative GOLD painted D15 rod with piston in my room, and the oil hole in the rod points toward the backside of the block with the stamping towards the timing belt where as in the LS pistons if the stamping was to face the timing belt the oil hole would face towars the front of the block. Can someone make sure I dont ---- up, thanks.

Try to find it, I need to see this, And the vitara piston does not differ much from the honda one, except the fact that is hase more Oil holes in the piston itself to project oil at the ring.

The bearing tang faces the intake side, and the bigger valve reliefs (if any) go on the intake side as well.

Show me a picture, As I see it, all the bearing tabs where it goes in to the rod and cap face towards the exhaust side, opposite that is the letters IN, which I know face the Intake side.

Yeah, but they are made of cryptonite and can handle 3000hp and 2500psi because of a special metalurology that has enhanced the metal. Mega horsepower. Not too mention they sit lower than the stock Honda pistons and we all know low profile tires are better so low profile pistons must be too. :) Who needs compression? :)

If you think you know which way they go in, why did you make a post?

ok.... real simple...

oil hole goes twards the intake side

as for the cap.... look at the # on the end if the rod/cap and make them match up

Re: I forgot which way the rod goes.

The reason there is controversy about the way the vitara pistons go in is because Hondas spin backwards unlike suzukis so the major thrust surface is going to be different in the motor. I am wondering which way to install them, have to ask FJT. What's with all the vitara hating, if you don't like them don't use them. >:(
