Default I bought the autogage

i bought this autogage to activate my vtec in my crx, but how the hell do i wire this. I see that the vtec solenoid has to connectors on it. One is green which has two wires, one is green and the other is black, and the other connector has a black wire. What do i have to do here?

The single black wire is the vtec solenoid. I'm not too sure if the "tach activator" trick is really gonna work for you though. I bought an autoguage tach to do the same thing with, and it didn't work at all. The only way i can figure that it would work is to get a relay from radio shack that has a negative input trigger, and wire it with that. If u test the tach, u will see that there is 12v+ at the light all the time...the only thing that makes the tach light up is a negative(ground) trigger.

Dipple Dunk!

Check out this post.....

Answers your question, now get that oversize can opener off your dash and replace it with something usefull, like an AF gauge

Only the high end Autometer tachs have rpm based switches, you need an rpm switch not a damn tach.

The way the Autometer solution works is this....

At XXXX rpm the shiftlight comes on......

Well that XXXX rpm can be adjusted by purchasing different "pills" and such. So you adjust it to the proper rpm that you want vtec to kick in, then wire the shift light wire to a relay that powers the vtec solenoid.
Thats the "Dipple Dunk" way.

The right way is to wire up your rpm wire off the cam sensor in the engine to a relay switch that goes off at X.XX volts . Someone on this site probably knows the voltage of the sensor @ 5.5k rpms.

If not run a voltmeter to the wire while a buddy revs your engine to the rpms you want your vtech to engage. Take the reading, then tromp on down to your friendly neighboorhood radio shack. Explain to the sales person that you need a relay that activates at the X.XX voltage (the reading you took) ...and they can take it from there.....

If that doesnt work, then "Overnight parts from Japan"
