I bet you can't fix my bogging problem!
Alright so here's the deal, nobody at H-T knew how the hell to fix it, but you all are way more intelligent, right?
So what happens is, between 2000-3500 mostly, my car feels boggy and kinda jumpy while accelerating. It isn't just at WOT, could be partial throttle. Idle is 1000-1500 when engine's cold, 700-1000 when warmed, is consistent and seems fine.
I dealt with it for a few months until it got so bad that my car was jerking violently enough for it to be noticeable on the outside. The car doesn't jerk predictably either, it's really random. It was jerking too frequently.
I replaced the plugs and it for the most part fixed the problem Well, temporarily... The problem started coming back maybe a week later. Damnit!
Car: 1997 Civic EX D16Y8 Stock 153k miles
What I've tried:
plugs
wires
dizzy cap/rotor
fuel/air filter
ignition coil (grr $80 waste of money)
friend's good tps/map
friend's dizzy (which ended up being ---- and didn't help anyway)
checked timing
What happens:
1000-2000rpm: seems normal...
2000-3500rpm: randomly bogs/jerks
3500+ rpm: seems to be normal, sometimes random misfire feeling, seems weak (maybe because it's a weak engine?)
Seems to be worse when the cars warmed up but does it cold too. Doesn't throw a CEL. Sometimes starts up very sluggishly, especially when warmed. Twice in the past year it's thrown CEL 71 and 72 (random misfire in cylinders 1 and 2) when starting the car.
Maybe running too rich and fouled plugs? Cat clogged? Why would it only misfire cylinders one and two both times? How are pop-tarts made? How would I check these things? Who's my father?
This didn't post correctly the first time, and it was way more detailed, but I hate retyping (?) myself so it's a little shorter.

Yes, idles stock (I think), usually 1000-1500 when cold, 700-1000 when warm, is consistent. Checked the timing with a timing gun, everything is right.
