hydrolock??
i think i hydrolocked my engine this morning, but i'm not sure. i hit a deep *** puddle and then heard a noise that sounded like a fucked up rod or something, and then my car died and wouldn't start. my question is how do i know if i hydrolocked it? what usually happens/breaks?

Re:hydrolock??
When it happened to me, I turned off the car and pushed it home, then took out all the spark plugs. I could see water in there. I then tried to start the car, it will not turn on because it had no plugs, the you'll see the water come out. On my car, after this it turned on perfect nothing broke, even though it did sound like it did at the time. The car has been running fine for months. You might want to try that.

Re:hydrolock??
things you can break are rods or the crank. pull the plugs and check for water. if you can see water in the cylinders, try to get some sort of vacuum to get it out and see if you can turn the car over after you get most of it out. i hope your car was hardly more than idling when you sucked up that water, because if it was spinning w/ any sort of speed you probably broke a couple rods.

Re:hydrolock??
When mine sucked the water, i guess I was lucky enough I saw the puddle and I let go of the gas while going over it. It did souns like something broke inside, rod or something. I even tried to turn it back on a few times, but it would not move at all like the battery was dead. That's when I did the spark plug thing, and after that, it turned on. Try it and let us know what happened. Also there's some type of carb cleaner or oil that will suck up or clean water. I did not use it, but after it happened some mechanic told me about it, that it could have help too.

Re:hydrolock??
It sounds just like what hapenned to mine, Hope that's it and it gets fixed easy. It took me only like 10 mins to get all of it out, actually like 5 then I left it a few moree minutes open in the sun so any extra water would evaporated.
