how to test a tps?
like the topic says, how do you fix/test a tps? i keep getting a code 7 (tps) constantly, and its really making my car run like ---- when i get the CEL. i tried looking in my sorry *** haynes repair manual, but it just says "tps must be serviced at a dealership by authorized... blah blah blah...haynes manuals suck dick" - basically not telling me ----. i dont even know what a tps looks like, i just know that it is somewhere around the throttle body. any help is greatly appreciated. thank you.
TPS is on the backside of the throttle body, 3 plug connector black. USDM throttle bodies have breakaway screws installed on them, (tamperproof) so you cant ---- with them. If you want to cut the screws off and put some normal ones in you can. I beleive when the throttle plate is shut (key on) you should have about .4 to .5v If not you may just need a new tps, or it needs adjustment. I'd try a new TPS first, unless its been fucked with already.

Well you cant buy one new.. well, you can but you have to buy the whole throttle body, lol.. I'd probably expect to pay 10-35 dollars for a good working TPS. The holes in the TPS are oblonged so it has a range of adjustment, you just need to set it up to .4/.5 volts at closed throttle. (may need to double check that value) but Its around there.

ok to make that diagram simple LOL with the TPS plugged in ignition ON check the volt between the red wire and the green wire they have stripes i just dont member the color.
you dont want the car running just the igniton on the on hot position. I have done that 1000 times. Also dont forget you CAN get a flat spot in a tps and it give ya hell form time to time.

hrm........................... grn/blue is just a ground to the ecu......
What car is this? Hrmmmmm
Ya know what that part of the manual maybe correct. On the DX to mpfi conversion you have to flip the 2 wires. So it may be why mine is different.
