Re:how to make vtec hit hard
when I installed my turbo on my b16 I set the vtec at 4400rpm, and when that vtec kicks in, it was like getting hit from behind by a 18 wheeler truck, I get planted to my seat!

Re:how to make vtec hit hard

Re:how to make vtec hit hard
turn v=tec activation off on the V-afc drive with it like that and after a while like an hour or so turn the v-tec activation on and see if you feel any difference...race the car when you're testing it without vtec and than do it with

Re:how to make vtec hit hard
ok... figured it out. i was flooding too much fuel into the motor when vtec engaged. to elaborate... i am running 450cc dsm's w/vafc on my NA crx in preparation for when i get my turbo on. my settings were -46% all the way accross. however, i had set it to -40% on the vtec unmatched screen when i first installed the vafc, which apparently overrides narrow/wide throttle settings. i figured more fuel for vtec right? wrong. too much fuel = bogging. leaned it out to -45% and now i can feel it. i guess i underestimated how much fuel each 1% of 450cc is.

Re:how to make vtec hit hard
if you want to "feel" it kick in then just drain a quart of oil out of the oil pan and run around. the solenoid uses oil pressure to activate the higher lobes.
every time I would get about a quart low on oil I would be able to feel it as it swapped over to vtec (damn thing would lunge back then pick back up)...that's when I knew it was time to add more oil :P |
Re:how to make vtec hit hard
what u can do is what we did...we converted my frenz 98 ex to stick. he now needed a manual ecu so we then got a p72 ecu. vtec rips on that lil' sohc now. u can hear and feel the crossover. u could do that, but there's only 1 prob. u have an obd0, so u can change it to an obd1 and get a 94-95 p72. i garantee that'll work.
