how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
the key suppose to stick into the pilot bearing right?..
the problem i have is that the key will not go into the hole, it`s like too big.... Dam....was going to assem. everything tonight... :-\ and everywhere will be closed tomol .... |
Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
Yeah, the tool is supposed to fit into the center of the pilot bearing. Then you just slip the disc over that and bolt up the P.P. Maybe you can shave some off the end of the tool until it fits, just make sure the clutch disc will still be centered.

Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
it ------- sucks doing a clutch without that tool, nothing there to keep the disk up there while you put the pressure plate on..
|
Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
Do you have the universal clutch alignment tool where you can usually change the end piece to fit into the pilot hole? Or you using the one that came with the clutch which is a plastic clutch alignment tool?

Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
i used my old PP and bought the disc seperate...
got thata tool seperate also...they are from ACT it`s like 2 mm bigger all around BTW my tanny `s out already...houdl i do it while standing up the tanny ? :P |
Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
You can't install it in the tranny first because the pressure plate has to be bolted to the flywheel. you need to find a way to use that tool or go buy another one. It can be done without the tool but if you don't get that clutch disc straight, the damn pilot shaft of the tranny is going to be a bitch to get ligned up.

geees. have to wait till next monday t get goin i guess :P |
Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
You should make sure the the pilot bearing that you have is the right one. Slip it over the end of the input shaft of the transmission, it should fit just perfect. If it's too big, you'll end up with other problems, esspesially if you are pushing more power than stock. If the bearing doesn't support the shaft correctly, you will end up with a transhed tranny.

Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
---- i knew it...they gave me the wrong bearing...
they gave me part#210 instead of #102.. :P |
Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
I have installed clutches without an alignment tool. Sometimes you get lucky and it goes right in, sometimes it's a mother ------- ---- ass bitch and you throw ---- all over the garage because you're so pissed off because you can't get the damn thing to line up. >:(

Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
BTW when i tried to put the PP in there is a big gap in between the PP and the flywheel....
am i just suppose to tighten it until it flush?...and is that 19 lb going to do it?... |
Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
make sure you have the spring part that sticks out tword the pressure plate. if it stickout a little the bolts will tighten that all down. go till there hand tight, no really tight but just really really snug.
|
Re:how do u use the clutch alignment tool?
Yep...19 Ft. lbs. is perfect. The fingers will slowly pull down as you tighten the PP down. They should be almost flat when you have it to the Flywheel. Tighten the PP bolts in a star pattern like lug nuts. You want the clamp to be even. Also make sure the PP and the F/W are VERY clean. If there is ANY contamination on them, you run the risk of chatter.
