How do i install ARP Head studs and also, cost of head resurfacing?
i have a d16z6 and i've installed these studs over a year ago but was never sure if i did it right. Should i put the studs in and use the nut to torque it down to 60lbs or whatever it the torque was and then put the head on and torque it down again? or should i put the head on and then put the studs in and torque it down to 60? (which is how i did it...lazyness) well i've been driving for about a year now and my block (just under the head) always seems like its leaky and covered with oil.....and i'm slowly slowly burning coolant......
Another question.... how much is the average cost of surfacing a warped block? is the block the part that usually gets warped? or is it the head?
thanks

trying to remember from when pat did his.
1. grease ends of studs with supplied lube
2. screw studs down finger tight til they stop, unscrew 1/4 turn back so they aren't all the way against the bottom surface
3. slide headgasket on
4. slide head on
5. grease tops of studs where nuts will sit, and put all nuts on.
6. torque nuts in specified 3-steps, and in proper pattern (work inside-outside, criss cross.)
7. put the rest of the ---- together, warm the car up, set the timing, go out and do a big burnout, film it, post it on hmt.

I hand tightened mine down, and didn't back them off (I didn't know I was supposed to)... then I tightened them down in steps of 20 in sequence up to 65lbs... I will re-torque them after 10 heat cycles too...
It cost me $35 to have the head resurfaced... I don't know how much it would cost for the block, probably the same amount...

haha yah, that is pretty dumb, install first and then ask.......only reason i never bothered asking before was that i never had any problems before....
cool 35 bucks sounds pretty cheap now i only need to find a place that can resurface it
