Actually, you don't want your oil to run too cool. Optimal temp. is around 180F. There are thermostats available that let u bypass a cooler below 180F.

Re: Hooking up an oil cooler.

for my setup i picked up a radiator off an automatic del sol vtec, i'm running the oil lines through the auto tranny cooler on the radiator and it helped a good bit. dont have a temp sensor in the oil pan (actually i have a water temp gauge lying around and i'm thinking of hooking it up in the oil pan to measure temp) but i did notice that the oil looked a lot better when it came time to change the oil. whereas b4 it was almost black when i changed the oil (every 2.5k) it's now a more brownish color, not as dark. btw i'm using non-synthetic castrol 10-30 in a y8 turbo. im a poor college kid cant afford the good ---- lol

Inform us all Mista on your knowledge and ------ the wealth. I always thought of doing this when I had my civic with the dual core rad. Couldn't you just add more oil to compensate for the oilcooler and lines?

5/8 line for a REAL oil cooler, not a puny 5/16" line like the tranny cooler uses.

Would be like running a 1.5" exhaust with a HUGE turbo.......no flow.

i agree the cooler is a 1 row internal cooler with very little room to flow that much oil 5/16 hoses but its even smaller tubes inside

also insread of ambiient air flowing over it, you have 190 degree water, very little heat transfer.
