Hooking up an oil cooler.
 

I just bought a new radiator for my CRX and it turns out that it has a built in oil cooler. Is it worth me hooking this up, if so is it as simple as getting an oil filter relocation kit of some sort and then adding in some extra lines? Also would some cheep rubber collant lines work alright or should i spend the big bucks on SS lines/adaptors?

well you could just hook it up in line between the block and your turbo, sending cooler oil to the turbo

I am planning on doing it this way, it seems like a good way to keep some heat down, and keep the turbo running a little cooler

haha yeah thats would i would do if my car was not stuck in NA form for the time beeing.

I'll see if i can get a picture of it but its not really much of anything special. I got it at autozone, the guy behind the counter asked if i minded that it had an oil cooler in it and i was like umm sure. pretty much there are just an inlet and an outlet right along the bottom of it.

Actualy here it looks just like this but is for a CRX.

yea thats for a automatic transmission, thats why, the tranny limnes go in there

for now i wouldnt worry about it man, but when you get a turbo that will be awesome!

just leave it be and know that you have one part that you can hook up and use whever you feel like it... it will probably do way more good when you get a turbo anyways

im gonna hook an external cooler up when i do my turbo install this fall..... theres no harm in using an oil cooler, there cheap, you can pick them up for 25 bucks so why not

im pretty sure it whould, i have the same one on my civic and never thought of using it as a oil cooler, sounds like a good idea, if it cools trans fliud im sure it will cool oil

it will work as a oil cooler for about 15 seconds while your engine starves for oil, eats the bearings, then locks up.

not gonna work, but you sure can try it.........we know the results but yours might differ............

might last 20 seconds or more!
