hood no open

hood no open
I pull the little lever with the picture of a hood open and nothing happens. I have to make someone push down on the hood, then I pull the lever, then they pull up, then we go open it. Or I cut my arm reaching through the front bumper and pulling the thing where the cable attaches, while I push down. Has anybody else had this problem? ------- piece of ----.
could it be my hood hitting the motor and not making love with the latch, that's why I have to push down first? there is evidence of hood/valve cover love making.

Re:hood no open
I have that problem right now but I think that I have closed my hood so many times that it opens now by itself without any help. What motor do you have. I have the d16z6 which I don't think hits my hood. I think since I did my engine swap is when I messed it up

Re:hood no open
My hatch does this. It really sucks going back and forth to open the damn thing. I ran out of gas and had a tank with a tiny bit of gas in the back. It took me like 15 times of running back and forth to open it.
I would try some grease/WD40 on the latch and see what happens. You're over weight B series is causing all kinds of hell in that pig. :P

Re:hood no open
you're probably putting too much pressure on the hood latch, so the friction between parts is enough that pulling the cable isn't enough to release it. some people have cut pieces out of the hood support to clear the valve cover.
as for the trunk, you're probably getting either too much or too little pressure from the rubber bumpers on the hatch/trunk lid... they can generally be adjusted by turning them like a bolt.
