hmt diagnostic fuel pressure guage
well im too lazy/tired to redo the mspaint but ill redo it later on with better pictures of the damn thing
basically took a stock fuel line that goes from the fuel filter to the dampner and cut.. and shoved a barbed T fitting into it and put on a guage.. i do NOT plan to run this.. it planned use was diagnostic only.. the last thing i want is for this thing to come off while driving and have the car catch fire.. but in a controlled enviroment i figured why the ---- not? maybe id feel safer about running it if i had bothered to get a real 5/16th T fitting ;) instead i went to home depot and picked up a 1/4inch T fitting ;) http://i33.tinypic.com/1554go3.jpg basically went to the jy and got 2 fuel lines.. cut one of them closer to the fuel filter.. and one of em closer to the fuel rail.. so i can have longer hose.. shoved it into the 1/4 inch T fitting hose clamped the bitch shut.. whammo worked like a charm.. heres the link to the PRESSURE GUAGE http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...ctId=100111543 first thing i did was turn the key to prime the pump and checked for links.. a good 2 minutes.. held at 50psi just fine.. turned the car on and kept looking everything over.. seems like ittd hold fine as a permanent thing but i not even buk trusts buk. i kept one of these on hand just incase ;) https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/mya...dd0799d1b3.jpg shitty picture of the setup https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/mya...f3a50486a9.jpg turn the key on and the fuel pump primes up to 50 psi (but for some reson my fuel pump never stops priming..) https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/mya...fd237b7cd2.jpg turn the car on and the fuel pressure settles in at 40psi https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/mya...c6ba9b48ea.jpg rev the car and the fuel pressure drops :( https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/mya...ee1a863440.jpg rev it higher and fuel pressure nearly cuts out.. car almost dies... 10psi.. ive managed to get it lower.. https://www.t-mobilepictures.com/mya...f57a65f6d5.jpg so bad fuel pump? :( |
Re: hmt diagnostic fuel pressure guage
There is a slim change of a bad FPR, but that looks like fuel pump buk-o.
Good diagnostics, grasshopper. Good job. |

Re: hmt diagnostic fuel pressure guage
I'd do it empirically.
Monitor FP with engine idling. Should be ~38 with vacuum line connected, ~41 with it hooked up. If your gauge is a psi or two off don't freak, but it beeds to change as the pressure on the vacuum port changes. 99% chance it's fuel pump tho. |
Re: hmt diagnostic fuel pressure guage
what are the chances of a clogged pick up sock or w/e its called

1 Attachment(s)
$7 for the Moroso 3/8" barbed fitting, $20 for a fuel pressure gauge, no need for two extra fuel lines.
Look under the "eu" on the strut bar Attachment 14469 |
Re: hmt diagnostic fuel pressure guage
if i unplug the vac line to the fpr.. fuel psi goes up to 50..
if i plug it back in it drops to 40... |
