Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

running pretty good, we took it to the track and beau ran a 13.3 @ 108mph @ 8psi (very traction limited) open diff, and smoked the slicks 1-2 gears. Doesnt matter the car isnt really going to be setup for drag racing, its my daily driver/road race car.

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

how long have you had the engine in there??? no problems at all? (that you didnt cause ;) )

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

it had 28k miles on the bottom end and about 100k on the top end when I assembled it.

probably put about 5-8k on it.

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

stock ls piston or after market and how about the rods.

HMT-Admin 03-24-2003 03:47 PM

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

stock ls pistons, stock ls rods..

whiteb16crx 03-24-2003 09:13 PM

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

isn't that a slow time for that kind of swap. you should have gotten after market piston and rods

HMT-Admin 03-24-2003 11:11 PM

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

lol, yes it is a pretty slow time, but obvisouly if you know anything about trap speeds you could see the car is an easy mid 12 sec car. Traction just wasnt happing that day at all. To give you an idea how much power this car has, it can easily smoke the ---- out of 23.0x10 (13in) wrinklewall slicks in 2 gears.

It really doesnt matter, the car still hasnt been tuned on the dyno with this setup, So I'm running a half ass ------ rigged Map on it. Plus an open diff doesnt help 1/4 mile times either.

The car will be used for road racing mainly, I have a drag racer.. :)

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

wow..that ---- is pretty fast..108mph..
i only ran 107mph when i went 12.6 in
my dodge colt..well..hopefuly u get it
dyno tuned ...thanks for the reply..

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

was it hard to build the ls/vtec engine? i was thinking of doing that myself but i dont know if it is too much for a new tuner or what all is needed for the job. i have a 94 integra, can you help with any info or point me in the right direction? I also want to turbo it.

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

Look in our tech section..

its easy, just bore out a few holes in the head, plug up another hole, and slap that mother fucker on. :)

If you need a specific question go ahead and ask.

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

where is a good place to look for the b16a head?? what is a kind of range on the price for all the pieces for installation and like what all would i need? I am still in the process of saving money. one more question should i do this or a turbo first? Thank you very much for info!!

don't turbo the lsvtec.....unless you want to blow it up. And mine has cost me too damn much just to blow it. I'll run LSvtec for a while and then sell the b16 head, and use my turbo ls head while i finish my turbo kit.

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

Why "do not turbo a ls/vtec", enlighten me :P

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

hey jeff i have a b16a in my 90 integ ls and i still have the b18a and the b18a has about 200,000 miles on it i was wondering if it would be worth taking the b16a head of my b16a and putting it on the b18a block? (is it worth the time with as many miles as the block has on it.. and can i use any b16a internals to replace on the b18a?)

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

I would probably rebuild your engine before you put a B16 head on it. As far as putting the B16a internals in, thats a negitive on that one. You could use the pistons but the rods are a different size.

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

I would just boost the hack out of the B16 and rebuild the B18 in case the B16 blows up hehehehe

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

AbaZ they have complete heads at mmrusa.com, but they are very expensive, I have 700 to spend and dont want to get ripped off or jipped. please help if can, THANKS

HMT-Admin 03-30-2003 03:30 PM

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

700? I would keep my eyes open before I jumped on that.. you can get a entire OBD0 B16a longblock for around 500 bucks?

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

what is 0BD0, as in the b16a head you pointed out? Will this head bolt to my 94 b18b block with minimal problems or do I need more ----, than already listed in tech section, like new ecu?? If this engine is straight then I am going to order it monday and use only the pieces I need. PLEASE REPLY WIT THE QUICKNESS IF YOU CAN, THANKS YOU THE ----

HMT-Admin 03-31-2003 03:35 AM

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

The head will work, but you will run into the same stuff I did <mentioned in the tech section>

use your obd1 injectors on the b16a obd0 intake manifold

use a external map sensor 88-91 crx si, or the stock one you have can work, but it just looks gay.

ECU, in order to make it work correctly, I would use a obd1 p72 gsr ecu with your lsvtec.

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

Im going to order the motor today, but what about the ecu. Should I buy a different one or does mine need to be reprogrammed or some ----?

HMT-Admin 03-31-2003 03:27 PM

Re:hey jeff!..hows your LS/v-tec?

hmm, read what I posted...

p72 obd1 gsr ecu..

so that would mean, yes you need a different ecu.

You could go half ass and run a msd activated switch w/ some type of fuel controller.
