Default HELP: A Spun Rod???? On CRX si.

I am going to get a 91 crx si. But the engine has a spun rod. NOt sure what that is. Can it be fixed or is the engine as good as trash? New at this. Please let me know.
This is what he wrote " I spun a rod on brookhurst and mcfadden in Garden Grove. I am sure it was due to the hot weather. Cylinder one detonated and spun a rod."
Can anyone help me out? Please let me know.

A spun rod?!?!?! man it must have went through the oil pan in order to spin!, JP, you prolly mean a spun rod bearing, how do you know this for sure? if you shut it off right away you might be able to replace the bearing, but chances are you will need to grind the crank and get a new rod and oversized bearing.

nope, he's right, spun rod. it's when the motor was built the bearing was eliminated all together [probably was an all-motor build, you'd want the loose clearance to make more power] causing the rod to conjoin with the crank over a prolonged period of time, thus making the rod spin and then spun, which after it's a spun rod as it has already completed the act of spinning. It is also possibile that lock tight used on the rod bolt leaked out and "locked" the rod, making it spin and thus resulting in a spun rod
