help me with bouncing idle
damn i'm so pissed right now. i finally decided to get off my lazy a## and install the y8 manifold on my y7. now i've got surging idle. i'm so pissed my back hurts. i installed new intake manifold and throttlebody gaskets and i used my y7 throttle body and stock sensors. wtf!?? i just looped a piece of hose between the inlet/outlet of the y8 iacv since the iacv is located on the y7 throttlebody. the y8 manifold has one extra vacuum fitting on the back it from the y7, but i just put a piece of vac hose with a bolt to seal it on.
surging idle is usually a vac leak right? i don't see how i have a vac leak. i went out of my way to take my time so i wouldn't forget to connect a vac line. i also verified my wires to make sure i got the map sensor plug and tps plug connected to the right sensors. i even used the stock pcv.
help me before i get so pissed i go back to my y7 manifold.
should i remove the y8 iacv and plug the holes that are left? i didn't think that keeping it on, but not hooked up would be a problem, but maybe that's it?

Yeah, I think the surging idle is generally from vacuum leak. Did you get a new throttle body as well? If the throttle plate does not seal up all the way when it's closed you will get surging idle. Is your boost guage reading a healthy vacuum?

Re:help me with bouncing idle
My vac hose on top of the FPR popped off once and made my idle bounce, just triple check all of your connections, or get some1 else to look and make sure everthing is hooked, sometimes your so pissed you don't see whats obvious.

Re:help me with bouncing idle
yeah...i took a break and ate some dinner and got some 26 gauge steel to make a block off plate. dammit...it didn't fix the problem. i checked all the connections and even sprayed brake cleaner near all connections and where the manifold met the block and tb met the manifold. arrrggggh!
i was supposed to go to a dyno day saturday and if i can't fix this tomorrow night i can't. i'm so pissed!

Re:help me with bouncing idle
i'm using the iacv that is mounted on my y7 tb. i'm blocking off the y8 iacv that is mounted to the intake. i'm going to disconnect everything again tomorrow night and install all new lines and reinstall the manifold again to make sure i got it right. another evening wasted.

Re:help me with bouncing idle
try replacing your t.b. gasket, it only cost like two bucks. i had that problem, and i couldn't detect the leak with anything b/c it was so small, it has to be a leak somewhere though if it's not your iacv. did you torque down the i.m. in the right sequence? it's either a vacuum line, i.m. gasket, or t.b. gasket, bottom line..........
