Headgasket, and Timing belt Turbo Swap

Ok, any of you honda guys, i have a VX motor, and am swapping the head with a Y8. D15z1 block, and d16y8 head

Ok, i need to know which timing belt to get and headgasket?? Is there a better one to get?? Im thinking maybe the 3 layer ex ones? Should i get a thicker one, or stay with OEM???

With the timing belt, i heard that the VX belt has 1 tooth less??? Which one should i get for this swap?? Also what brand should i use?? OEM HONDA?? Thanks

From my understanding, you stick with the head gasket/timing belt that matches to your head. I don't claim to be a honda expert.

you have to use the y8 belt.the tooth that's missing is on the z1 cam gear.anyway 88-2000 head gaskets fit.i'm using the 88-91 head gasket.it lowers my compression since i'm boosting on my y7-y8 swap.the 3 layer y8 metal gasket will raise your compression.same with the z6. plus the price z6 and the y8 100 dollars or 88-91 23.95

Ok, the 88 headgasket is the like paper thing?? that you have to scrape off right?? hahah, i heard that the 3 layer one is better?? If it does raise it, how much?? i dont care if the compression is like 9.8 or something, as long as its in the 9 range, also could i stack two of the 88 gaksets???

just bought the y8 gasket off hondaautomotiveparts.com for like $23. Get one of those.

As for timing belt, do a search, this has been done before with some trouble, took the guy like 3 belts to find the one that fit.

OK, i also posted a thread on D-series.org, and one dude said that the belts have different amount of teeth:

VX:103
EX:104

Headgasket i still want the to try and get a lower compression ratio. I guess that i will go ahead and get the EX gasket?? ive heard that they are better, and ill just throw lots of fuel to the motor!! hah

Re:Headgasket, and Timing belt Turbo Swap

The ex (z6 or y8 in US) has the thinner headgasket that will raise your compression, the a6 gasket, while not as nice, will lower your compression. The difference is not that much, maybe .1-.2 compression points. Just start a bit richer when tuning than you think, since higher compression is easier to detonate with...
