When you reuse head studs they can actually stretch. Therefore you have an easier chance of blowing your HG because the metal bolts stretch not clamping tight on the HG.
I picked up my ARP set for ~$100 IIRC.

Re:HEad Studs

You mean they replace their head bolts for ARP head studs.
The general Honda engines don't come with Head Studs

Re:HEad Studs

head studs shouldn't strech either

Re:HEad Studs

The reason stock "bolts" stretch is because they were designed to. TTY=Torque-to-yield

Since when did 88-01 Hondas have torque to yield head bolts?

Re:HEad Studs

are the APR head studs one time use like the OEM ones are supposed to be??? or are you able to torque them down more then once with the same reliability?????

Re:HEad Studs

reuse of headbolts is fine.

extremely reputable honda dealership here don't use new ones.

I'd really only worry about replacing them if your head lifts or warps..

Re:HEad Studs

i replaced them many times on non-boosted motors without any problems, but since i took apart my boosted b18 and used the headbolts its leakin oil out of the side of the head...

Re:HEad Studs

Well over here in Europe the Honda Dealer says that the head bolts don't stretch ???
And they said you can reuse the ehad bolts, well at least on the ZC then...they never have head bolts on stock.

Re:HEad Studs

you can reuse oem head bolts. i've done it several times, and all the techs here at the dealership say the same. i think it's more a matter of preference by the builder. if you want to replace them, go ahead, if not save $80 or whatever they cost.
