Default Head gasket and arp help needed

Hi Guys,

I need to redo the HG on my D16A9 aka ZC (yep its the EDM one) and going turbo while i'm at it . I've been speaking to Summit and they said that they do a copper HG for the ZC but they also said that the bore of the hg is 76.2mm where as i know the bore on the A9 is 75mm. The thickness i'm going to use is 0.043". Could this be because that when the hg is compressed and heated it expands to 75mm?? Or are they[me=cel_912]just getting confused.[/me]

The HG can be found at http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=25259

Part 2.

I want to get hold of a set of ARP head studs. I know the ZC/A9 should have one bolt longer than the other 9, but for some reason my one doesn't. The bolts are all the same size but one "sist" higher than the others.

Is this right? Should it be like this? If this is the case then i can order the 16v Jetta kit and not bother about the extra one which should be 1/2" longer.

Thanks.

I realized the same thing with my brown top ZC. All the head bolts were the same length.

I purchased the VW Jetta ARP head bolt set, OEM head gasket and intake manifold gasket. Now all I need is to do a port and polish.

The jetta kit works ok, except you dont have very many threads on the top side..

IF you want to use the SCE copper head gasket, you will need to O-ring the block or head.. (or machine the block/step deck) Either way its about 200+ bucks in machine work to make one of those copper gaskets work on your engine. I have one on my ZC.. (summit fails to mention any of that)

I believe ARP now sells a stud kit for the ZC? I remember reading that in the Built ZC in the tech section

Thanks for the help guys

I'm going to order the Jetta kit and ARP are still insisting that they don't have a kit for the ZC's. Oh well.
As for the HG well sod the CU, I'm going to order a Cometic Multi-Layer one from Race Engineering. ($90) not too bad i gues, unless some one knows of a better one for less $$$.
That just leaves the SAFC and i'll be ready for boosting

Thanks Again.
