Head gasket - advice needed
I go D14 engine, and will put turbo in it within next two weeks.
What I already got: Vortech FMU 1:10 (yea, yea.. I kno, AFC would be better.. but...) in-line fuel pump hoses for oil already done Garrett T2 turbo IC gauges (air pressure, oil temp and A/F gauge) SMT5 electronic to retard timings Anyway.. planning of boosting upto 7-8psi, and engine has compression ratio of 9.2 Do you guys think I need to lower compression range, or will 9.2 be OK? Don't really want to blow engine... so asking for advices/experiences. If I should lower compression... what would be most psi I could put on stock engine with 9.2 compression? |
Re:Head gasket - advice needed
you'll be fine w/ 9.2:1 w/ 6-8psi. d14?? what year civic is this?

Well the PSI should be fine and the stock head gasket will hold up but you can get a copper gasket if you want. I have seen 15PSI on a all stock motor so you should be good with just 8PSI. |
Re:Head gasket - advice needed
Tnx for info :)
Yes I'm from Europe - Croatia. Engine is D14A4 (90HP). I kno many asked why this engine, and not get biggger one and turbo that one... hehe.. cause it's fun :D Maybe latter I'll get D16 or B16... :) |
Re:Head gasket - advice needed
upgrade to a D16, that's funny.
You should be fine, just take it slow and you'll love the boost. |
Re:Head gasket - advice needed
with that SMT5 you should be able to tune your fuel injectors a bit to....or get bigger injectors and tune it with that..

Re:Head gasket - advice needed
my friend have installed a turbo on a d14z2 engine 90HP stock
it works fine, there is no Vtec but the turbo kicks ass http://www.promotormocy.pl/foto/IMG_0254.JPG http://www.promotormocy.pl/foto/IMG_0238.JPG 1,4L 160HP not bad ;) |
Re:Head gasket - advice needed
BTW you have to lower compresion ration with a thicker head gasket or whatever.\
The stock d14 rods are thins like pencil. I ve seen 2 blown d14 motors on nitrous and one on turbo soo be carefulll d14 isnt a good tuning base anyway, its like boosting a 1.3l and having the same perfomance as liglty tuned d16 NA |
