Hatch doesn't crank up.

Hatch doesn't crank up.
I just changed my headgasket on my 89 Civic Hatch DX w/ dohc zc, put everything back together and try to start her up but I get a Code 8(TDC). Would that cause the car to not even crank up at all? I know for sure its not the battery.
