ok so..... I bought a 92 lx not running. I thought the main relay was bad becouse the car runs when i jump pins 1,3 and 7 on the relay. I just replaced the relay and the car still dont start

Things i checked/replaced:

Main relay
T-stat ground
ECU
all fuses

What would make the main relay do nothing? It dosnt even click at all

 

T stat ground is that the ground on ur engine wiring harness if not check that and check all ur grounds either that or u got a bad ecu ? just a little of my opinion

 

I changed the ecu to a know good one and cleaned all the grounds.

 

yep came out of my friends car. I drove the car around with the relay bypassed and noticed it has some other electrical glitches. Alot of the power accessory's dont work, the lights flicker and when you turn left blinker on the trunk light flashes. the speedometer also dont work. it throws a cel but i havent seen what it is yet. I am going to check all the fuses tomorow.

 

I get no power on pin 5 of the relay with the key on

 

Just wanted to say that i got this issue resolved. Some asshat took out the #12 fuse that is for the main relay, vss and some other stuff and replaced it with a plastic dummy fuse Now that my relay and eld work the alternator light is on Car stalls if you unhook the battery so I assume its bad. Good thing I have 2 spars.

 

nope a car with a good alt will stay running because the alt completes the circuit
