Grind when shifting into first gear, why? Mista Bone you must know!
Ever since I've had my civic (about a month or so) it grinds when I shift into first. This is a 92 civic dx with stock d15b7 and dx tranny. When I am at a stop and depress the clutch and shift into gear right away, it grinds. If I depress the cluth and then wait a couple seconds before I shift there is no grind. I absolutely cannot downshift into first when I am moving, it grinds like mad. I have already installed a shift stabilizer bushing kit and that did not fix the problem. What causes this and how can I fix it? I really don't know much at all about the inner workings of a tranny.

Get on the hunt for a Y8 Trans... or a Z6 if you cant find a y8. You can find them pretty cheap, I got a mint y8 trans for 150 for my hatch, and its been working great.

bad/worn 1-2 shifter fork.........simple fix once tranny is torn apart........
did a perfect 2-1 downshift tonight at 30 mph apexing a tight 90 degree LH corner...........on a stock DX tranny
How much of a grind you get on a hard high rpm 2-3 upshift??
99% of the time, never the synchros.........
